When decoding your own name, it's important to realize that in Numerology, each letter in your name has a corresponding number, and that the placement of each letter determines the kind of influence that letter (and its numerological meaning) has on you. To simplify things, we will refer to letters and their numerological meaning rather than discuss the precise numbers they translate into.
The language of numbers is universal -- not only is it rooted in mathematics and science, but it has a greater spiritual meaning as well. In this way, the power of numbers transcends spoken language. Numbers are very objective -- their immediate meaning is clear, and they are the language of science. To most people, there isn't any particular emotional meaning attached to numbers. Numbers are also perfect for communicating dense or abstract ideas.
Numerology is based on the ancient idea that each of us is a spiritual being, or a soul, who incarnates on the earth many times in order to further evolve toward higher states of awareness.
In Numerology, there are three numbers to pay attention to in particular: the Master Numbers. These are the numbers 11, 22 and 33 -- better known as the Master numbers.
What makes them so "masterful?" They have profoundly powerful meanings and are considered "highly charged" -- that means when they appear in your chart, they hint at difficulty. They give you insight into obstacles by calling upon your patience and maturity -- and a lot of effort -- to peacefully integrate these elements into your personality.
11
First, the number 11 represents instinct. It is your connection to your subconscious, to gut feeling and knowledge without rationality. Because the number 11 has all the qualities of 2, the negative points of the number -- anxiety, shyness, stressed energy -- is balanced out by the 2 qualities of charisma and divine inspiration. 11 is the dichotomy number, meaning it is both extremely conflicted and also a catalyst for other numbers.
The danger of 11 is that it needs to be focused on a very specific, concrete goal ... because if you have 11 in your chart and it isn't attached to a specific project, you will most likely experience anxiety and fear. It's extremely powerful and capable of great things, but can also be extremely self-sabotaging when not used correctly.
If you have Master Number 11 in your chart, tap into it and use it to create personal power and spiritual evolution. Do not deny your instincts, and let your inner, guiding voice push you toward a great goal. This is a number of faith, and very much associated with psychics, clairvoyants and prophets.
22
Master Number 22 holds the greatest amount of power (earning it the nickname "the Master Builder"). 22 is a pragmatic number, a doer, capable of spinning dreams into concrete reality. Those who have 22 in their chart have great potential for success -- that's because it has all the insight and intuition of the number 11, paired with a grounded and scientific approach associated with the number 4. 22 is an ambitious but disciplined number.
22 represents lofty goals brought down to earth and made into something you can touch. It also has leadership and confidence. Unfortunately, not everyone with a 22 in their chart is practical -- this is symbolized by the brilliant person you might know who doesn't "live up to" their potential. This is the danger of both 11 and 22 -- though both are capable of greatness, they can shy away from great opportunities or apply too much pressure to themselves.
If you have 22 in your chart, ease up and realize your limitless opportunities. Turn down the pressure-cooker and realize your shot at serving the world in an effective and practical way.
33
Meanwhile, 33 is the mover and shaker of the Master Numbers (earning it the nickname "Master Teacher"). With 11 and 22 combined in this Master Number, intuition and dreams reach an entirely new orbit. A 33 used to its full potential means that there is no personal agenda, only a focus on humanitarian issues. Someone with 33 strongly featured in their chart has the ability to throw themselves into a project that is more than practical -- it can even be spiritual.
The number 33 also represents full understanding before communication. That means that with 33 in your chart, a person is probably highly knowledgeable, but also fact-checks before preaching ideas or ideals.
This number in full efficiency is a sight to behold. But this is rare. Master Number 33 is only significant if it's one of your "core" numbers -- Life Path, Heart's Desire, Personal Expression, Personality or Maturity. Otherwise, Numerology experts look at 33 as simply 6 (or 33/6, still weakening its power and downgrading it from a Master Number).
But a Master Number of 33 is also rare because of the very technical way it's calculated. A Life Path Number of 33 means that the three units of a person's birth date -- the month, the year and the day -- all add to 11, or the birth year adds to 22 (and if you were born in the 20th century, there are only 7 years that add to 22) so that the month and day of birth combined equal 11. Then, the day of birth must be 22, with the month and year of birth at a total of 11.
As you can imagine, this is an extremely rare occurrence.
Numerology experts pay special attention to Master Numbers, and you should too. The best way to consider them? That 11, 22 and 33 are a triangle of enlightenment.
In Numerology, your name and birth information tell you which numbers dominate your life. These numbers can tell you a lot about your own personality -- and your own future. But there are two kinds of numbers: single-digit or double-digit. To go deeper into your own numero-identity, it is important to look at both.
Let's face it: this is a world of chain stores, fast-food joints and a global culture. There is nothing wrong with this, but it is important to be in touch with the special qualities and talents that are uniquely yours.
